If you are in the business of events planning, then you will know all too well the stress of getting every last detail perfect.

We can’t control the weather or plan for perfect sunshine, but having an effective cooling system in place when the sun starts to shine, helps you to keep guests cool and comfortable.

Stuffy Tents & Climate Control

A main feature of large outdoor events is tents and marquees. Whilst these are fantastic for protecting against the worst of the elements, the material itself does not provide sufficient ventilation.

The temperature and humidity in marquees can rise to extremely uncomfortable levels, especially at large music festivals or weddings, where guests move around a lot more.

This heat can get trapped inside. Fans can be used to improve ventilation and provide a comforting airflow, though in some cases they can become useless, as they only move hot air from one area to another.

Portable air conditioning systems provide a great cooling solution for these kinds of enclosed, poorly ventilated spaces. They use a refrigeration system to provide a flow of cool and dry warm air. They help to lower the temperature and to reduce humidity within a room. These units simply need either ducting or umbilical line to be fed outside (depending on the type of unit), to remove heat from the space.

Please note that air conditioners are only effective in enclosed rooms and spaces like marquees, tents and temporary structures. They are not suitable for cooling open outdoor areas.

Hot & Sunny Summers Days

For open outdoor areas, hot and dry summer days create uncomfortable conditions for guests.

Firstly, it is important to provide some shade for guests, to offer protection from the harsh rays of the sun. This can be done using parasols, pop-up gazebos and sunshades.

Evaporative coolers provide a great cooling solution for outdoor areas, as well as open, well-ventilated indoor areas during events.

Evaporative coolers are cost-effective and environmentally friendly machines that use the natural process of evaporation to provide cool, humid air on warm and dry days.

These machines contain an internal water tank, a water pump, cooling pads and a fan.

Firstly, the machine pumps water from the tank to the top of the unit, where it flows back through the cooling pads. As this happens the internal fan draws warm air into the machine and passes it through the wet cooling pads.

This causes water droplets to evaporate into the air - which naturally reduces the temperature of the air, making it cooler and more comfortable.

Finally, the internal fan then blows this cooler air out of the front of the machine to cool the open space.

Conclusion

If you have an event in an enclosed space like a marquee, tent or temporary structure, air mover fans provide a great way of providing a comfortable airflow. Portable air conditioners offer a way of providing cool and dry air in these spaces.

For more open outdoor events, evaporative coolers provide a source of cool and comfortable air on hot and dry summers days.
