Compressor dehumidifiers are suitable for a range of spaces. You can use them to dehumidify and control the moisture levels in homes, offices, shops, workshops, and more. You can use them to remove moisture from the air, walls, and floors in areas that suffer from damp. You can use them to dry an area following a leak, flood, or spill. You can also use them for wet trades like decorating and construction work. These machines are incredibly versatile, making them ideal for a wide range of applications. Controlling the relative humidity in a space improves the air quality and the comfort level. It also reduces the chances of further problems, like trapped condensation, water damage, mildew, mould, rot, stale odours, and allergens.
Compressor dehumidifiers perform best in spaces with average and warm temperatures. If you need to dehumidify a heated space that tends to be over 10°C, refrigerant units can be extremely efficient. Compressor types of dehumidifiers only consume a low-level of energy, so it is a cost-effective option. Dehumidifiers are especially helpful in the winter, as you can keep windows closed in rooms that contain moisture, like bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms, so you will not lose heat, but also will not trap humidity. In cold conditions with temperatures ranging from 10°C and below, a desiccant dehumidifier will offer the greatest performance.
These dehumidifiers use a system of refrigerated and heated coils to reduce the moisture within a space. Fans draw humid air into the machine through vents and pass it over a refrigerated coil, which is called the evaporator. The moisture in the air condenses into liquid when it meets the cold surface, just like condensation on windows. The condensate that is removed from the air drips into a collection tank or is pumped away via a drainage system. The dry air is then slightly warmed, usually by heated elements or a second coil, which is called the condenser. When the air is dried and warmed, it is returned to circulation.
