Hangar Heaters
Ensure aircraft & personnel are ready for lift-off
National Heater Shops has a wide range of aircraft hangar heaters available from some of the best brands, including Master, Elite, Thermobile, Herschel, Dania, Broughton, Acrotherm, Reznor and Airrex. Hangars pose a unique problem. Not only do they have high ceilings and large floor space, but they also have high air change rates. This means that air infiltration can severely disrupt comfort conditions within.
In Hangars, roof heights can also vary from 10m to 30m - plus, the main doors can be virtually as tall as the roof. Heat loss can be exacerbated by the fact that they are also often sited in extremely exposed locations. Nevertheless, there is still a need to sustain a comfortable environment for personnel and provide rapid recovery to full operating temperatures once the doors have been closed.
Hangars can also house expensive equipment, which sometimes containing explosive fuel. This all means that when heating a hangar, extra consideration needs to be taken. Infrared heating offers a great solution to heating hangars. It works in a similar way to the sun, emitting infrared rays that will warm only the people and objects in their path. As they do not heat the volume of air in the building, they are more energy-efficient and focus heat only where it is needed.
People inside always feel comfortably warm, while the chill is taken off any aircraft preventing build-up of potentially hazardous condensation. Both economical and effective, they are highly energy-efficient and the warmth from the radiant system felt by personnel is less affected by cold air influx through doors opening and closing.
Electric fan heaters are another suitable solution for heating hangars. Electric hanger heaters are great for areas with insufficient ventilation for gas or oil-fired heaters, but they also provide functional and efficient drying and heating. Direct space heaters are another alternative for hangars. They provide a simple, convenient and effective way of heating a range of well-ventilated spaces.
