Industrial Waste Oil Heaters
At National Heater Shops, we supply a wide range of rugged waste oil burners for heating industrial areas. These heaters provide a cost effective and environmentally responsible heating solution, by using oil that is produced as a by-product. These units are an ideal solution for industries that regularly deal with waste oil, as it provides a use for it.
Waste oil burners provide an excellent option for heating large spaces using waste oil. They allow for room warming without enduring the cost of fuels, by burning a wide range of oil-based fuels including heavier viscosity oils that aren’t compatible with conventional heaters. Engine oil, gearbox oil, vegetable oil, diesel oil, 35-sec heating oil, other types of used oil and bio-fuels such as rapeseed oil are all types of waste oils that can be used by a waste oil heater to generate warmth.
How Does A Waste Oil Burner Work?
Waste oil burners are designed to safely and efficiently convert used oil into heat. This process should be carefully controlled to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
A holding tank is used to collect used or waste oil, where it is then passed through a filtration system to remove dirt, particles and moisture. Once the liquid has been filtered, the waste oil is delivered in precise measurements to the burner. A metering pump is used to ensure an adequate amount of oil is delivered each time, ensuring the heater only burns what is necessary to maintain the temperature required.
Once oil has been filtered and measured, the oil is atomised into a fine mist and is ignited during the combustion process. This process is what allows heat to be transferred via a heat exchanger which then separates combustion gases from the air to ensure clean, warm air is delivered to the environment whilst unwanted exhaust gases are vented safely outside using a flue or ducting.
What Permits Do I Need?
Regulation changes made in 2016 mean it is illegal to burn waste oil in a small waste oil burner (SWOB) unless a permit is obtained under Schedule 13A of the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2010, which costs for both the application and an annual fee.
The change followed an amendment to bring SWOBs within broader waste incineration legislation designed to reduce the emission of air pollutants. You can continue to use your multi-fuel burner without a permit if you use non-waste fuel.
For alternative heating that doesn't require these permits, see our selection of warehouse heaters or our selection of indirect space heaters.
Trusted Heating for Industrial Areas
We supply a wide variety of waste oil burners of different sizes. These heaters are often used in large industrial areas where waste oil is a byproduct of manufacturing or process. We have options from reliable brands such as REMKO, Thermobile and ZM Heating which supply clean, reliable warmth.
Waste Oil Heater FAQs
What type of oil can be used in a waste oil heater?
Most commercial and industrial waste oil burners can use approved fuels such as engine oil, hydraulic oil, vegetable oil, gear oil and some synthetic oils. Be sure to read your model’s specifications to ensure your choice of fuel is suitable.
Are waste oil heaters environmentally friendly?
Waste oil heaters reduce the need for fossil fuels by recycling used oil. When compliant oils are used and emission standards are met, a waste oil heater is both an environmentally responsible and efficient heating method.
What size waste oil heater do I need?
When choosing a heater, the size is something that is dependent on a few factors. The amount and type of waste oil available, footage of the area that needs heating and the ceiling height are all to be considered when choosing which waste oil heater is best for you.
