High Performance Low Temperature Dehumidifiers
Moisture control can be critical in some environments. An excess of moisture in the air can lead to issues including, but not limited to:
Mould
Rust
Structural damage
Wet surfaces
Condensation
Desiccant dehumidifiers offer a powerful, reliable solution. Unlike their compressor counterparts, these dehumidifiers excel in low temperatures, capable of operating in temperatures as low as -20°C
Desiccant dehumidifiers are best used in colder conditions due to their efficiency in low temperatures. They do, however, consume a lot of energy and as a result are more expensive to run than refrigerant dehumidifiers. That means that they are best used in environments that other dehumidifier types may struggle to operate in.
Desiccant Dehumidifiers For Demanding Environments
Desiccant dehumidifiers are often used in the following industries and spaces:
Manufacturing plants
Pharmaceutical and food production
Data centres and server rooms
Boats
Unheaded homes or holiday properties
Construction and water damage restoration
Whether you’re preventing mould in unheated spaces or protecting sensitive equipment in a warehouse, our range of low temperature dehumidifiers deliver consistent, efficient performance all year round.
How Does A Desiccant Dehumidifier Work?
A desiccant dehumidifier uses a moisture-absorbing material (desiccant) to extract humidity from the air. This material is loaded on a rotor which is then slowly rotated within the unit, capturing the air’s moisture and allowing it to drain in the process. To aid in this process, a fan is used to draw in the moist air which is then treated with the moisture-absorbing material, heaters and redistributed back into the area’s atmosphere.

Robust, Reliable Desiccant Dehumidifier Units
At National Heater Shops, we provide a wide range of desiccant dehumidifiers from top brands such as Ecor Pro, Ebac, Brolin and Aerial.
These dehumidifiers are robust and long-lasting allowing for them to be used in challenging environments. In particular, units such as the Ecor Pro DH800 DryFan Desiccant Dehumidifier 220v is capable of moisture extraction in temperatures as low as -20°C, making it perfect for demanding environments.
Desiccant Dehumidifier FAQs
What is the difference between a desiccant and refrigerant dehumidifier?
A desiccant dehumidifier uses an absorbent material to remove moisture, whereas refrigerant (compressor) dehumidifiers rely on condensation.
Are desiccant dehumidifiers better for low temperatures?
Yes, most of these dehumidifiers run smoothly at freezing and below freezing temperatures. Some models also produce heat.
Do desiccant dehumidifiers use more energy?
Yes, low temperature dehumidifiers use more energy as they need to power a rotor. However, they are far more efficiently and effectively used in colder temperatures.
What size dehumidifier do I need?
The size of a dehumidifier depends on:
Room size
Humidity levels
Temperature conditions
Application
Use our drying calculator to help figure out the dehumidification capacity of the area you wish to dry.
Are low temperature dehumidifiers suitable for commercial and industrial use?
Most of our units are built for heavy-duty and continuous use, making them perfect for warehouses, factories and specialist environments.
