Compact ATEX heater that comes with a self-regulating function
The EXHEAT HEF Enclosure & Cabinet Heater is specifically engineered and certified for all instrumentation and switch gear applications in hazardous areas. It is suitable for use in Hazardous Area Zones 1 and 2, which consist of explosive gases in Groups IIA, IIB and IIC. With a heating capacity of up to 500W, the EXHEAT HEF unit provides five heating power options. This cabinet heater is exceptionally efficient and suitable for challenging and hazardous environments where conditions can be extreme.
The enclosure heater is built with a robust steel structure. Its perforated stainless steel casing is made of 316-grade alloy. This alloy is highly resistant to corrosion and contains molybdenum, which enhances its ability to withstand pitting and crevice corrosion in environments with chloride. The exceptional durability and corrosion resistance of this heater make it ideal for demanding settings like offshore platforms or chemical processing plants, offering quick and precise temperature control.
The cabinet heater is designed to be compact and have a low profile, requiring only a small amount of space for installation. Its purpose is to allow for closer proximity to internal components and cables. The minimum distance required for installation from these elements and cables is 100mm. The HEF heater offers flexible mounting options, as it can be securely mounted in any orientation using the appropriate bolts. Mounting can be achieved through the use of mounting feet or DIN rail holes. This versatility enables seamless integration into existing systems without the need for significant modifications or extra equipment.
For the convenience of users, the HEF heater is equipped with self-regulating elements that reduce energy output as the surrounding temperature rises. This feature eliminates the need for a separate thermostat. However, if precise temperature control is required for an enclosure, it is recommended to use the heater in conjunction with flameproof air sensing thermostats like AFT, HFT or FXT. The EXHEAT cabinet heater functions effectively within a wide temperature range of -60°C to +80°C. This highly adaptable temperature range makes it suitable for diverse environments, such as industrial settings where extreme temperatures are frequently encountered. It carries a T4 temperature rating, ensuring that the maximum surface temperature of the HEF unit does not surpass 135°C. Therefore, the heater is appropriate for use in environments where substances have ignition temperatures higher than the equipment's maximum surface temperature.
Furthermore, the unit provides options for both 240v and 110v, allowing for flexible installation and compatibility with various electrical systems. Applications include but are not limited to the following:
